O presidente da Rússia, Vladimir Putin, viaja nesta terça-feira, 18, à Coreia do Norte para uma visita de Estado de dois dias, anunciou o Kremlin nesta segunda-feira, 17, confirmando o segundo encontro em nove meses entre o líder russo e o ditador norte-coreano Kim Jong-un, em meio a um aprofundamento de laços, sobretudo militares.
Putin visitou a Coreia do Norte pela última vez em 2000, quando se tornou o primeiro líder russo ou soviético a visitar o país. A viagem ressalta a crescente importância estratégica da Coreia do Norte para Putin, especialmente por sua capacidade de fornecer armas convencionais extremamente necessárias para a guerra na Ucrânia.
Para Kim, é um raro momento em que seu país, um pária no Ocidente, é procurado como aliado.
“A convite do presidente de Assuntos de Estado da RPDC, Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin fará uma visita de Estado amigável à República Popular Democrática da Coreia nos dias 18 e 19 de junho”, comunicou o Kremlin.
Dias antes da chegada de Putin a Pyongyang, o Kremlin prometeu promover a cooperação com a Coreia do Norte “em todas as áreas”. Esta nova era de relações entre os dois países tornou-se evidente quando os dois líderes se reuniram no Extremo Oriente russo, em setembro.
Pyongyang e Moscou eram aliados na Guerra Fria, mas as relações arrefeceram após a desintegração da União Soviética. Nos últimos dois anos, porém, voltaram a aproximar-se à medida que partilhavam hostilidades contra os Estados Unidos – a Rússia devido à sua guerra contra a Ucrânia e a Coreia do Norte devido ao seu programa de armas nucleares.
